| In December |
In tea ceremonies, we use various kinds of shelves according to occasion and season.
The tradition of using shelves in tea ceremonies began in middle 13th century, when a Japanese high-class priest brought it from China.
When I practice sitting at this shelf that has special meaning, I think over how I have spent through the year.
We started to use RO instead of FURO that we had been using since spring.
RO is a kind of brazier that is settled in the hollow place made under the tatami mat.

The shelf in the photos is SHIN-DAISU lacquered in black.
We use SHIN DAISU only in the most formal circumstances.
In December we practice how to serve tea on new year's day using this shelf .
