Report from our tea ceremony practice room
Summer in Japan is so hot and humid that the room is displayed to provide the guests with a feeling of bracing coolness.
The Japanese characters in this Kakejiku ( hanging scroll ) means
" cool and clear breeze "
The flowers arranged in a bamboo basket are Mukuge in Japanese.


These are teabowls used only in summer.
You'll see plovers inside the bowl on the right.


Natsume and Mizusashi
set on the shelf.
Natsume is a container
for powdered green tea.
Mizusashi is
a jug of water
for washing the teabowl
and pouring into Kama ( kettle ).
