There are so many cherry trees along the road to Kamakura Hachiman-Gu. When they are in full bloom, they look like the tunnel made of cherry blossoms. I go to see cherry blossoms at night every year because I love the scenery of the cherry blossoms in the night when they are lighted up by lanterns.
It was already after five o'clock when I arrived there. Kamakura is so famous and popular for it's historical structures such as temples and shrines, that it is always crowded. But the time was too late for tourists and I could enjoy the quiet Kamakura on this day.
In the ground of Hachiman-Gu, there is a small island which is connected by a red arched bridge. The flags in the opposite side are what were presented to God.
Many of the flowers were already fallen from the trees but this tree was in full bloom. They were so beautiful at dusk.
The scenery of the road from Hachiman-Gu. It became darker. The lanterns are lit.
One of the joy of HANAMI is "having dinner together". We went to SOBA (Japanese noodle) restaurant near the cherry road. I like the cherry flavoured ice cream that is served as dessert in this restaurant.
The photo shows the cherry blossoms lit by lanterns.
In spring the weather is so changeable. And cherry blossoms are easy to be blown away by wind and easy to be faded by rain. This year we had heavy rain and strong wind in this season. In Kamakura the big events had been holding to celebrate the beauty of cherry blossoms for many years but the biggest one was cancelled by the rough weather this year. I feel cherry blossoms in Kamakura have faded and gone before they became in full bloom.
