European Columbine, Aquilegia vulgaris L.
I hear that the science name "Aquilegia" comes from Laten word which means eagle. It's maybe because the spurs of this flower make us image the talons of an eagle.
On the other hand, it's called odamaki, which means a spool of thread, in Japan. Maybe It comes from the shape of the flower that suggests a spool of linen of weaving. The origin of flower name is different and interesting among the different countries.
